The Lesotho Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) hosted a Vietnamese delegation on 7 August 2026, led by Ms Nguyen Minh Phuong, Director of International Market Development at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. She was accompanied by Mr Dao Manh Duc and Ms Hoang Thi Khank Van.
The delegation's visit to Lesotho, held from 6–7 August 2026, focused on strengthening bilateral trade and investment, exploring cooperation in key sectors including industry, energy and mining, and identifying opportunities to deepen economic relations between Vietnam, Lesotho and the wider SACU region.
The LCCI Secretary General, joined by Associate and Affiliate Members, welcomed the delegation for productive discussions on potential areas of private-sector cooperation. A key outcome of the engagement was an agreement to pursue a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between LCCI and a Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce, creating a framework for stronger business linkages, trade promotion and investment cooperation.
With a population of over 100 million people and a strong manufacturing and export-driven economy, Vietnam presents significant opportunities for collaboration. Key areas of expertise include textiles and apparel, agro-processing, pharmaceuticals, construction materials, furniture manufacturing, electronics assembly and ICT-enabled manufacturing.
The engagement marks an important step towards building stronger commercial ties between the business communities of Lesotho and Vietnam and opening new avenues for trade, investment and knowledge exchange.
